Name of Project:
Twins Ballpark
Location:
Minneapolis, MN
Scope of Work:
Utility and Storm
Sewer Installation,
Urban Drainage
The $412 million new
Twins Ballpark is
set to open in 2010.
The team currently
plays in one of the
most outdated
facilities in the
major league – the
Metrodome. The new
40,000 seat ballpark
will feature one of
baseballs closest
seating bowls. With
spectacular views of
the Minneapolis
skyline, this new
open air facility
will feature many
materials native to
Minnesota. Limestone
façade, and native
flowers, trees, and
shrubs.
Meyer Contracting, a
Native American
women owned small
business, was one of
the first
contractors on site
in the fall.
Utility
installations and
relocations were
required to
accommodate a new
skyway system to the
ballpark, from the
existing Target
Center and parking
lot facilities. An
18” live sanitary
sewer, a water main,
and a storm sewer
were all relocated.
Storm treatment
structures were also
added.
The project was
complicated as it
involved the closure
of a major freeway
into downtown
Minneapolis, I-394.
I-394 is a major
artery into downtown
Minneapolis not only
for daytime |
