Name of Project:
Guthrie Theater
Location:
Minneapolis, MN
Scope of Work: Water
& Sewer Main
Installation and
Repair; Road
Maintenance &
Construction
Originally built in
1963, the Guthrie
Theater has been a
leader in American
theater with both a
national and
international
reputation. The
original concept of
the Guthrie was to
build a theater that
contrasted the
commercial
environment that
Broadway had become.
Over 40 years later,
the theater
continued to
experience
unprecedented
growth. So much
growth, that ground was
broke on a second
theater located on
the banks of the
Mississippi River in
downtown
Minneapolis,
Minnesota – just
adjacent to were the
35W-Bridge
collapsed.
Meyer Contracting, a
member of the
Disadvantaged
Business Enterprise
(DBE) program, was
responsible for the
installation of all
utilities for the
new theater and the
parking ramp. This
required having to
temporarily shut
down, remove and
replace a major
downtown roadway –
located in front of
the theater. The theater
opened in the summer
of 2006. |
