The Heritage Park
Project was a
monumental $250
billion dollar
project, located
just outside of
downtown
Minneapolis, MN. The
area originally
contained two public
housing projects and
had become an area
known for poverty
and crime. The city
reclaimed the
property and
bulldozed 145 acres
of land. Since then,
the area has been
developed into a new
residential
community – home to
a racially and
economically diverse
population. With a
backdrop of the
beautiful
Minneapolis skyline,
the project now
contains safe
housing, parks for
children to play,
and landscaped green
spaces for all to
enjoy.
Meyer Contracting, a
general contractor
in Minneapolis, was
involved with the
project from the
onset. The company
installed all
underground
utilities including:
water, sewer, and
storm sewer, for
over 250 residential
units. Meyer
Contracting also
installed limestone
weir walls, a
pedestrian bridge,
special granite
inlaid paving, a
landscaped park, and
several storm water
control structures.
Meyer Contracting
recruited several
other outstanding
minority business
enterprises in the
effort to clean up
this vital
neighborhood. The
work was performed
from 2002 – 2006. |
